Balance, Joseph Begay

The Balance, Joseph Begay

My grandmother gave me a lot of wisdom through her stories. I can’t repeat the story but what she told me about it was: “Be slow to call someone good or bad. Get rid of all thoughts of judging people or event incidences as bad. Be concerned about the beauty in balance. The balance shifts all the time. You have to maintain beauty in your own life. Look at the mountains or the stars or the water people and keep everything in harmony. That is the only way to live.”

When I share my food with someone homeless I feel my grandmother’s hand on my shoulder saying “You walk in beauty.”
