Colors by Jacob Nez
Okay, so some church people sent us different colors of those throws (the short blankets) and we take a big box of them to one of our camps.
I play the fool and shout out “Who wants red, green, blue, purple? We’ve got them all.”
You should have seen people line up laughing and talking as they chose the colors they wanted. It’s not that it will keep them warm. It is a little something extra that is not the usual gray blanket.
A young boy was overcome by a brown and black tiger footprint one. “Can I have this one?” he keeps says. We keep saying “yes.” He hugs it to him like a soft toy.
I wish I could do this all year and see just one child happy.
