Exploitation by Jay Begay

  • As many as 2.8 million children run away each year in the US. Within 48 hours of hitting the streets, one-third of these children are lured or recruited into the underground world of prostitution and pornography. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

Jacob and I saw a young child taking old bread out of the trash bin behind a grocery story. He shoved it into a plastic bag and handed it off to even a younger kid who ran with it. Then he dived back in it to find some mushy fruit. They were both dirty and looked scared. We gave him the change we had in our pockets and told him they could come over for a shower if they wanted. He shook his head and ran. He never spoke. We never saw them again.

We are seeing more and more of the run away children. We are asking around for those who might help them.

As we find out, we will tell you about it. Meanwhile, maybe you can keep your eyes open and carry food and maybe t shirts in your car so you can hand them out. We all need to watch out for those who need our protection.

Native American youth. The kids are more likely to trust us because of our skin. We are warriors who protect our children, all children.
