Prayers by Jay Begay

I walk to the train line three times a week to attend college.  Street people know me and say “Hi.” Sometimes they ask for help. I do what I can. I pray for God’s mercy on those I pass.  At home I pray this prayer that is on my desk.

“Creator, Giver of all things, Lord of the outcasts, I ask your mercy for those on the street, especially the children and the very old. I pray that you listen carefully to those who are sick, in trouble or in danger of killing themselves.  Protect those who are dying, prisoners, or confused. Use me as you will, O merciful God. I ask this in your holy goodness and in the name of Jesus the Christ. Amen.
